We find in the human species anatomical sexual differences between man and woman that are very relevant for the procreation of the species.

The male reproductive cell is called the sperm and the female cell is known as the egg.

Both the sperm and the egg are characterized by having only half the number of chromosomes normally found in the cells that make up the human body.

Chromosomes are particles responsible for the transmission of hereditary characters and which enter into the constitution of cell nuclei. Assuming that human cells have 46 chromosomes, both sperm and eggs have only 23 chromosomes each, which leads us to deduce that reproductive cells are actually hemi-cells, requiring the conjugation of two of them to a basic cell called an egg.

The egg results from the fusion of the sperm and the egg.
