Lower member
The lower limb has the function of supporting body weight, locomotion, has the ability to move from one place to another and maintain balance. The lower limbs are connected to the trunk by the lower limb girdle (hip bones and sacrum).
The base of the lower limb skeleton is formed by the two hip bones, which are joined by the pubic symphysis and the sacrum. The lower limb cingulate and sacrum together form the BONE PELVIS .
The bones of the lower limbs can be divided into four segments:
- Pelvic Girdle – Iliac (Hip Bone)
- Thigh – Femur and Patella
- Leg – Tibia and Fibula
- Foot – Bones of the Foot
