Músculo Deltoide 1. DELTOID

Proximal Insertion : Lateral 1/3 of anterior border of clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula
Distal Insertion : Deltoid tuberosity – humerus
Innervation : Axillary Nerve (C5 and C6)
Action : Abduction of the Arm, assists in the movements of Flexion, Extension, Lateral and Medial Rotation, Flexion and Horizontal Extension of the Arm. Shoulder Joint Stabilization

Músculo Supraespinhal 2. SUPRASPINAL

Medial Insertion : Supraspinous fossa – scapula
Lateral Insertion : Superior facet of the greater tubercle of the humerus
Innervation : Suprascapular nerve (C5 and C6)
Action : Abduction of the Arm

Músculo Infraespinhal 3. INFRASPINHAL

Medial Insertion : Infraspinous fossa of the scapula
Lateral Insertion : Middle facet of greater tubercle of humerus
Innervation : Suprascapular nerve (C5 and C6)
Action : Lateral Arm Rotation

4. MINOR ROUND

Músculo Redondo Menor Medial Insertion : Upper 2/3 of the lateral border of the scapula
Lateral Insertion : Inferior facet of the greater tubercle of the humerus
Innervation : Axillary Nerve (C5 and C6)
Action : Lateral rotation and adduction of the arm

5. BIGGER ROUND

Músculo Redondo Maior Medial Insertion : Lower 1/3 of the lateral border of the scapula and inferior angle of the scapula
Lateral Insertion : Crest of the lesser tubercle of the humerus
Innervation : Inferior Subscapular Nerve – Posterior cord of the brachial plexus (C5 and C6)
Action : Medial Rotation, Adduction and Extension of the Shoulder Joint

Músculo Subescapular
6. SUBESCAPULAR

Medial Insertion : Subscapular fossa
Lateral Insertion : Lesser tubercle
Innervation : Superior and Inferior Subscapular Nerve – Posterior cord (C5 and C6)
Action : Medial Rotation and Adduction of the Arm

ROTATOR HOSE :

The main function of this group is to keep the humeral head against the glenoid cavity, to reinforce the joint capsule and to actively resist undesirable displacements of the humeral head in an anterior, posterior and superior direction. The following muscles are part of the rotator cuff:

SUPRASPINAL

INFRASPINHAL

MINOR ROUND

SUBESCAPULAR
