1. GLUTEUS MAXIMUM
Medial Insertion: Posterior gluteal line of iliac, sacrum, coccyx and sacrotuberous ligament
Lateral Insertion : Ileotibial tract of fascia lata and gluteal tuberosity of femur
Innervation : Inferior Gluteal Nerve (L5 – S2)
Action : Extension and Lateral Rotation of the Hip
2. GLUTEUS MIDDLE
Superior Insertion : External surface of ileum between iliac crest, posterior and anterior gluteal line
Lower Insertion : Greater Trochanter
Innervation : Superior Gluteal Nerve (L4 – S1)
Action : Abduction and medial rotation of thigh
3. GLUTEUS MINIMUM
Superior Insertion : Iliac wing (between anterior and inferior gluteal line)
Lower Insertion : Greater Trochanter
Innervation : Superior Gluteal Nerve (L4 – S1)
Action : Abduction and Medial Rotation of Thigh. Anterior fibers perform Hip Flexion
